Free Yoga Boston (October 2019 – May 2020)
*UPDATED: July 10, 2020*
The Summer 2020 List is up! Look here.
Yoga classes are still indoors, but spring is just around the corner. This list of free yoga classes in the Greater Boston area and beyond has been updated several times over the last few months and changes to the list continue. Please let me know if you have any corrections and/or tips!
The current list has classes that are year round and for the winter. Click links for details about current dates, etc. Even though classes are free, most require registration due to size constraints. Marathon Sports classes are usually offered on Sundays, but vary greatly by date and location.
Many branches of the Boston Public Library have free yoga classes on different days and most are listed below. Also look at the BPL website for details and changes that I may have not seen.
Make sure to check the Free Yoga Boston Group too. It’s a private group, but you can request to join. Members share information and there are additional classes and events listed there as well.
Many of the free classes that I find are on Eventbrite and Eventful, so check there too! There are classes on Meetup that I generally do not include in my listings.
Enjoy!

A Collection Of Moments: September

A Collection Of Moments, was my year long attempt to actively notice the changes and beauty within each month. This project started last October and has come full circle. A year goes by quicker than we think. At first I wasn’t sure if this project would continue for another year, but I think not. This feels like the end.
Each month has a definite quality to it. There is an ebb and flow that I notice more. Maybe it’s that I’m getting older too. I’ve experienced quite a few seasons. So as my life began in September, I’ll end this project in September. Because each ending is really just a beginning somewhere else.
+ + +
SEPTEMBER is …
Pumpkins and apples.
Cider donuts and early eggnog.
My mom’s personal labor day.
Leaves slowly falling.
That last burst of color.
Orange and red.
Jackets and boots.
Losing the light.
Autumn taking hold.
The Chowdah Project: Stockholders Steakhouse

The Chowdah Project is back! The last post was at the very beginning of the summer season.
I didn’t mean to skip the entire summer. But the days and weeks didn’t seem to hold space for much blogging, or chowder eating, and took me in other directions. But here we are at the other end!
This past week my mom had several appointments. Since I drive her, I schedule as many as we can on the same day, so I don’t miss as much work. What an exhausting day. We hadn’t stopped to eat and needed to take a moment and get some nourishment.
As my mom was scheduling the next set of appointments with the assistant, she asked about places to eat nearby. The woman mentioned Stockholders just down the street.
When we walked in, it was at the very beginning of the dinner shift. The space is wide and open, with beautiful tables and chairs. It felt elegant and comfortable and instantly shifted our energy to a more calm and happy place.
The service was excellent and the restaurant started to fill up quickly. People know about this place. And it seems like a regular spot for many, so we were given a good tip. As my mom and I were eating, she said that she wanted to come back soon. I agreed.
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed all the pictures of outdoor restaurant seating. Beautifully set tables, flowers, plants and comfy chairs. It’s definitely become a thing for me — a mood. Maybe because these scenes represent a respite. A way to escape and treat ourselves in the midst of the ordinary and stressful parts of our lives. A bit of comfort.
That feeling of comfort is part of what led me to start The Chowdah Project in the first place. Even though Stockholders is a steakhouse, they have a variety of other foods. Including chowder. So of course I got the clam chowder! It was perfect.
The only way I can see to improve it would be to give a bigger serving of it! But the serving size was perfectly reasonable. It had HUGE chunks of potatoes. Plenty of clams. The perfect flavor and consistency. My mom ordered some to go so she could have some at home. It was dreamy.
We were also offered bread as a starter. For me that’s huge. When I’m eating out, if there’s no bread with lunch or dinner, I am immediately disappointed. We had focaccia that came with flavored oil and a small black eyed peas salad.
I ordered jumbo chicken tenders with spiced honey sauce, to go with my chowder. The tenders were indeed gigantic, crisp, sweet and spicy. Delicious! I had plenty to take home and had them with my lunch for two days.
My mom loved her Cobb salad and had plenty to take home as well. She did say that she wants to try the steak next time. And there will definitely be a next time. This was comfort and food at its best.

Bruja Full Moon Magic Playlist

Between this being Palindrome Week, with Friday the 13th yesterday, the full moon today, and my birthday being this past week, it’s been feeling like a magical time.
Also, there were lots of sudden out of the blue endings and beginnings in my life during this time. Something is in the air.
I have a playlist on Amazon that I listen to while I’m driving. Several of the songs I found on my monthly Cosmic Playlists by Chani Nicholas. I listen to Virgo, my sun sign and Taurus, my rising sign. It’s a great way to find new to me music and inspired me to create a new playlist.
There were some witchy songs that I took from the driving list and moved to a separate playlist celebrating the full moon mood and bruja magic. Below is a list of the songs and a link to it on Spotify if you’d like to listen to it too. The 17 songs take an hour and twelve minutes to play. Enjoy!
