Today’s Breakfast

So glad the cold spell has broken! This past weekend was scary cold and then yesterday was such a relief.

In one day, the temperature in the Boston area went from a wind chill of around -25 degrees to in the 50s!

It rained and most of the snow melted away. Today is sunny and is supposed to be in the 40s. I started my day with a nice breakfast and some yoga and meditation. Now I feel grounded and ready for the day.

Happy Wednesday!

What a Difference a Day Makes

Thursday afternoon, it was close to 60 degrees and I was wearing a light jacket. The next evening, I was walking in snow wearing mittens! That’s how it goes. By now I should be used to it, but I don’t think that will ever happen.

I’m starting to believe that we Bostonians have the the same coping mechanism when it comes to snow. A certain level of denial. We talk ourselves down (off the ledge) a lot.

We survived last year!

It’s not that bad!

We can handle it!

It’s almost spring!

February is always the hardest month. Even when we’ve had an easy winter so far. But anything is better than last year, so I guess I can’t really complain. But I think you hear me. I’m complaining!!!  😀

A Study on Sunsets

Sunsets January2016

While doing errands Saturday evening, I truly enjoyed the sunset. The picture on the left was taken just a few miles away from the one on the right and less than a half an hour apart. But they look so different.

The colors. The fluffiness of the clouds. The starkness of the bare branches against the sky versus the lush greenery.

No matter the number of sunsets that I see, they never get old. All sunsets have their own unique beauty and feel. What a treasure. All we have to do is look up to find it!

Have a great week and keep looking up! 😀

Winter Solstice Blooming Flowers

winter solstice blooming flowersIt may be the first day of winter, but Mother Nature seems confused.

As I walked around yesterday, I saw this tree blooming. Apparently it thinks it’s spring!

The weather this week is supposed to be downright balmy. The forecast for Christmas Eve is the mid to upper 60s!

Since I know the warmth will not last, I’ll enjoy it and the surprise flowers.

Happy Solstice! Looking forward to more light….

Subway Stories: South Station Last Night #MBTA

South Station TIt was so cold last night! But as I walked from work to the T, I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful South Station looked.

Lit up in red lights and glowing against the sky above and snow below. It took a few takes to get this picture on Instagram. But I think it was worth have freezing fingers for a few moments.
Dog on platformWhile waiting for the Braintree train at South Station, I noticed the most beautiful dog. It was sitting quietly until a train went by, then got up and looked like he was ready to go! So was I!

The Braintree train arrived without waiting long at all and it seemed like things were starting to get back to normal here in Boston.
