Another Boston Romance

Alfresco_dining_Boston

My love for Boston has returned. Not that I ever stopped loving it. But the winter makes it hard to remember that loving feeling. That special love for Boston feeling.

Like when I’ve been away on a trip. I’m on a plane and we start circling Logan and descend back into the city. No matter where I’m coming from or how much I enjoyed my trip, I am thrilled to be home. I see Boston with fresh eyes and get that loving feeling.

Each year when the warm weather returns, the city wakes up and blooms. When I was walking outside yesterday, I looked down an alley that would be very easy to miss. I saw this outdoor seating area. Empty, but waiting for people to arrive.

Imagine all the future people in this space over the next few months. Mixing and mingling. Talking. Eating. Laughing. Remembering. Maybe even falling in love.

It made me think about all the restaurants and cafes around the Boston area that have set up their outdoor seating for the season.

Then this morning, I found a listing on Eater Boston with 120+ patios officially open for 2016. They made the list, so I don’t  have to. It’s a great resource for the season. Whether you’re an area local or a tourist visiting. I’m looking forward to going to a few of these places. Hopefully you will too!

Breaking Boston Food News: Clover on Federal Street!

Food News about Clover.

While it’s still in the beginning stages, it looks like Clover is coming to the Financial District! 160 Federal Street to be exact.

I noticed building permits a few weeks ago and wondered what would be going there. Breaking food news is one of my favorite things. Then yesterday I noticed that the Clover sign had been put up. According to Clover’s website, back on July 10, 2015, they wrote about Clover #7.

So while we’re still hoping that the Copley site will happen, we’re not expecting it will be Clover #7. The next Clover restaurant will likely be downtown. We just signed a new LOI on a site at Federal St. near South Station. It’s really exciting. Our truck at Dewey Square was our first in Boston, and the first new food truck in Boston. And it’s a beautiful site.

So for all the Clover fans out there, the food news is that you’ll soon have another location to choose from!

The Restaurant List: A Belle Époque for African-American Cooking

A few months ago, when I read the New York Times article on African-American cooking, by Jeff Gordinier, it was a welcome surprise. Yet, it was a great disappointment as well, because there are no links to each restaurant nor the books listed in the article. Nor is there a summary list, which would be nice to refer to later.

Much like the “Big List of free yoga classes in Boston that I created, since it’s a list that I want that nobody else has put together, at least that I know of, maybe I need to do it for myself. So I am creating another list for myself again. But of course, I want to share it with you too!

Below is a list with links to each restaurant named in the article and the locations by city and state. For those of us living in these areas or planning to travel to them, this restaurant list may help us to find some great places to eat.

Hopefully many of us will get a chance to try these restaurants. Happy eating!

My Favorite Lunch ~ The Power Bowl @ b.good

Power Bowl

Usually I bring my lunch to work. But once a week or so, I’ll splurge and buy something. Recently I have found a new favorite meal for lunch.

If you’re looking for a lunch that is healthy and tastes amazing too, then I recommend the Power Bowl at B.Good.

I go to the location on Summer Street in Boston, but they have places all over the city. After looking at their website, I see that they are not only in other parts of Massachusetts and New England; B.Good is also in North Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Back to the Power Bowl. It’s made of kale, local egg, lentils, carrots, brussels sprouts, crunchy chickpeas, pepitas, and tomato vinaigrette. I cannot tell you how much I love this lunch! The textures and flavors mix perfectly together and I feel like I am definitely getting in a good deal of my vegetables for the day.

With taxes, the cost is a little over ten dollars, so it’s a bit pricey for my budget. But I think it’s worth it for a treat. Hope you’ll give it a try if you get the chance!

Looking at the menu, I realize that they have many other items that I’d like to try as well. Like a veggie burger, sweet potato fries and milk shake. Maybe next time!
